Preserving Savannah Neighborhoods, the community group that has been active in opposing DeRenne Avenue widening, is sponsoring a forum called “Transportation and its impact on Savannah Neighborhoods.” The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. The location is Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 5441 Skidaway Road.

According to PSN member Jack Knops, residents of approximately 60 neighborhoods have been invited. The forum is aimed at helping residents understand “the threat mindless road widening can pose to the livability of neighborhoods.” Knops said, “We hope to be able to formulate questions to ask of the people running for City Council during a forum we plan in September or October. We also hope to be able to formulate solutions and alternatives to the traffic problems in Savannah.”
