Third Annual Greenfest

The third annual Greenfest will be held Saturday May 9, 2009 with The Market at Trustees’ Garden & AWOL’s Savannah Urban Arts Festival

 Greenfest will be held on the grounds of Trustees’ Garden, at 10 East Broad St., where The Market at Trustees Garden has been held every Wednesday and Saturday.  Greenfest 09’ starts at 9am, to continue with Greenfest’s theme of “Connect & Take Action” Greenfest 09′ is focusing on the importance of “Sustainable Food Practices” by buying local and organic produce and supporting local farmers.

Green Lifespace “Guidance for Going Green”, a Savannah based green consulting will host the second Culinary challenge between Greenfest 08’ Top Chef winner Matt Roher of Cha-Bella and Chef Patrick McNamara of Noble Fare. They will go head to head in Culinary Duel. They will be judged for the plates creativity, taste and “green” factor and awarded “Greenfest Top Chef 09” at 3:00pm. The winning restaurant will showcase their award inside their restaurant. This year Lady and Sons will have a booth serving food, Bobby Deen will be will a judge for the Top Chef competition along with City Of Savannah’s Assistant City Manager Chris Morrill. 

The City of Savannah Recycling & Liter Services Department will be presenting “ReThreaded Fashion Show” all clothes will be made from recycled materials and The City of Savannah Recycling & Liter department drivers and staff will be the models!  

Ride your bike and receive a free gift certificate to a Eos restaurant or Sol restaurant.

Greenfest is proud to be a zero waste event.  All items will be reused, recycled or composted.  There will be no water bottles at Greenfest, there will be a water hydration station by City Of Savannah Water Department where attendees can fill up their own water bottles.  A brand new water “Source Water USA” that comes in aluminum cans will be sold at Greenfest.  All day performances by SUAF – Savannah Urban Arts Festival.

·         Composting Class 11am – 12:00 (Hester & Zipperer)

·         ReThreaded Fashion Show 12:30 – 1pm(City of Savannah)

·         Greenfest Top Chef Challenge 2 – 3pm (Bobby Deen, City Of Savannah Assistant City manager Chris Morrill)

·         Goodwill Drop Off all day for clothing, books, computers
