Since the market began this summer, it's featured local produce, crafts and performers every Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. twicethree timesThe Starland Farmers Market made the Savannah Morning News twice this week. A story called "Country comes to town" was published on May 10. This morning's paper featured a shorter item with the headline "Everything from (A)pples to (Z)ucchini." There have been at least two previous attempts at sustaining an in-town produce market in Savannah since the early 90s. The Starland market should provide a good resource for people who are trying to eat local. It's slated to run every Saturday through November. The site is aimed at encouraging collaboration and information sharing between groups and individuals currently engaged in sustainability efforts. The site can also provide a snapshot of Savannah for green-minded people who are considering visiting or moving to the area.
