10.12.11Skidaway Institute offers Marine Science Day, Oct. 15The Skidway Institute of Oceanography is hosting Marine Science Day on Saturday, Oct. 15 from noon - 4 p.m. The focus of the event is the natural environment of the Georgia Coast: "The Skidaway Marine Science Day is a campus-wide open house with activities geared for all ages from young children to adults. These will include programs, tours, displays and hands-on activities, primarily related to marine science and the coastal environment. The event is open to the public and admission is free." More to come on this outstanding event, celebrating the opening of the Washington Avenue bike lanes between Bull and Waters. 05.06.10Ride SavannahMay 15: Ride Savannah. 12-3pm, class will meet at the Savannah Bicycle Campaign tent at the Forsyth Park Farmer’s Market to begin class which also includes on-bike travel through Historic Downtown Savannah. This course is provided at no charge. Students who complete both Savannah Bicycle College and Ride Savannah will be eligible to receive the Traffic Skills 101 certificate, the prerequisite for League Cycling Instructor certification. More bikes than books, this three hour class teaches the in’s and out’s of bicycle maintenance, bicycle safety, and “vehicular bicycling.” No bicycle required.
